Travel
Lugano, Switzerland is best reached by hourly trains in 3 hours from Zurich,
Switzerland, or Basel, Switzerland or in about one hour from Milano, Italy.
Lugano has an airport but not many airlines serve it. If you arrive by air
and connections to Lugano are inconvenient, consider flying to Zurich or
Milano and taking the train from there. Milano is closer but the connection
to the train is difficult there.
From Lugano, the conference site CSCS Manno is reached by bus. The bus time
table is availabe here. Further information on reaching
the location is provided by CSCS.
Accomodation
The local organizer, CSCS Manno, has informed us that no hotel large enough
for the full group is available at reasonable rates. Since some attendants
prefer cheaper hotels, while others want to opt for better quality (keep
in mind that the quality of all Swiss hotels is reasonable) they recommend
that the participants reserve accommodation by themselves following their
preferences. A complete and easily searchable list of hotels is available
at http://www.lugano-tourism.ch . When searching for a hotel in Lugano, we
recommend the area close to the station.
For budget-conscious attendants, alternatives are the youth hostels (also
listed on the page), which also offer private rooms at reasonable rates.
There are also some cheaper hotels in the small villages next to Lugano that
the bus passes through. You can find their names on the bus time table.
