Location and Travel

The Gump Station, a research and conference facility of UC Berkeley in the South Pacific, is  ideally situated to bring together participants from the Pacific Rim for an international workshop in French Polynesia.


Moorea is a short ferry ride or flight from Papeete airport (PPT) in Tahiti to which direct flights are available from South America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the USA. Participants from Europe can travel via Los Angeles (LAX) or on round-the-world tickets.

Getting to the Gump Station From Papeete

The island of Moorea can be reached by a short ferry or plane trip.  See this website for details.  If you have booked an international Air-Tahiti Nui flight, local flights from Papetee to Moorea on Air Tahiti are only $25 USD.


Accommodation

Accommodation is available in shared bungalows and dorm rooms at the conference site at 41 US$ per person per night. Alternative more expensive accommodation is available in the nearby Hilton hotel.


Registration fee

A registration fee of $250 USD will be charged to cover facility use and the conference excursion and dinner.


Financial support

Limited financial support is available to cover local expenses for some participants.
